Head Waters of the Lost Sierra

In the Lost Sierra Mountains there are no major roads which provide a means of transportation. You plan your route with Topo maps and a GPS unit. Rocks are stacked every 1/4 mile in marking. Your access being a game trail indigenous animals will travel for a drink.

The Rugged Steep terrain studded with fragrant Junipers, Cedars, and Pine. Redwood Manzanita bushes nestled against granitic rocks. Wild flowers popping in colorful displays. Creeks flow of winter`s snow echoing through the canyon walls.

  2. The energy is intense. Not many are comfortable treking through these parts. Geologically speaking... Recent Explosive Volcanic activities are in evidence. Over lays of multiple events and recent lahars having preserved the various activities. Tar pits and Hydrothermal activities still percolating. Intense heat repeatably melting and concentrating aluminum rich rock to crystalline form. Volcanic tubes having been scoured by water creating tunnels and caves deep underground. Yes can imagine Steve and you enjoying these parts.

Thousands of years the Washoe,Paiute,Maidu,Native Americans traveled along these migratory routes. Game and fish being plentiful.

Magnificent Pine Forests supporting huge trees with open canopys and grassy under cover. Natural forest fires having burned and cleansed the downed limbs. Yet leaving the tall trees uninjured. Huge Majestic Meadows world class in beauty and size. Channeling winter`s runoff. Lush grasses, wild flowers abundantly thrive.

On guard are broad dormant/extinct volcano`s dominating the horizons.

Yes best to pay homage to spirits which inhabit these parts.
For few are allowed to enter and exit unscathed.

    Terry
